Jose Trevino’s Yankees tenure is over.
The Yankees have traded the veteran catcher to the Reds in change for reliever Fernando Cruz and catcher Alex Jackson, The Submit’s Joel Sherman reported.
In Cruz, 34, the Yankees add one other right-handed reliever to their bullpen in an offseason that’s seen them commerce for Devin Williams and re-signed Jonathan Loaisiga.
Cruz depends totally on his splitter and has struck out over 35 p.c of the hitters he’s confronted over the past two seasons with Cincinnati.
Jackson has performed in 124 video games within the massive leagues over 5 seasons as a backup catcher.
The deal ends Trevino’s time in New York, which peaked in 2022 with an All-Star nod and Gold Glove.
He hit .230/.279/.361 throughout three seasons in The Bronx.
