The Nationwide Freeway Visitors Security Administration has launched a probe into practically 1.3 million Ford pickup vehicles over a defective gear change that may result in a possible wheel lock-up.
On Friday, the security company opened an investigation into 2015-2017 Ford F-150 vehicles after receiving greater than 130 shopper complaints.
Drivers complained of an unrequested gear downshift with none warnings whereas driving at freeway speeds. The automobiles would then quickly decelerate, in line with the NHTSA.
In line with a number of the complaints, the vehicles’ rear wheels would then briefly lock, seize or skid after the sudden gear change.

The wheel lock-ups could cause drivers to lose management of the automobile, rising the danger of crash or damage.
“We are working with NHTSA to support its investigation,” a Ford spokesperson advised The Publish in a press release.
No crashes or fires linked to the defective gear change have been reported, in line with the NHTSA.
