A March Insanity-style bracket had virtually 200,000 followers vote on Rock and Roll Corridor of Famer Bruce Springsteen’s songs to find out which one is one of the best of all time.
Out of the 64 hits on the checklist, his 50-year-old anthem “Thunder Road” took the crown.
The rockin’ competitors, which was created by the Asbury Park Press, got here all the way down to “Thunder Road” and “Born to Run” — each off Springsteen’s breakthrough 1975 album “Born to Run.”
The 20-time Grammy winner, who grew up in Freehold, wrote “Thunder Road,” its opening observe — which ranks at No. 111 on Rolling Stone’s checklist of 500 Biggest Songs of All Time — when he was simply 24.
“Thunder Road was just so obviously an opening, due to its intro,” Springsteen informed Brian Hiatt, creator of the e-book “Bruce Springsteen: The Stories Behind the Songs.”
“There is something about the melody that just suggests ‘new day,’ it suggests morning. That’s why that song ended up first on the record, instead of ‘Born to Run.’ Which would’ve made sense, to put ‘Born to Run’ first on the album – [and we] still put it on the top of the second side.”
The opposite two tunes within the Remaining 4 had been “Jungleland,” additionally off “Born to Run,” and “Rosalita (Come Out Tonight),” off Springsteen’s second album, “The Wild, the Innocent & the E Street Shuffle.”
The opposite songs within the Elite 8 matchup included “Backstreets,” “The River,” “4th of July, Asbury Park” and “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.”

“He’s got an interpretation of me that I think the fans will deeply recognize and he’s just done a great job, so I’ve had a lot of fun. I’ve had a lot of fun being on the set when I can get there.”
