Rudy Farias, who went missing as a boy, found 8 years later, is ‘nonverbal’ but still wearing dead brother’s pendant

A 25-year-old missing Houston man who was found alive after disappearing in 2015 was still wearing his dead brother’s necklace when he was found last week — and is currently nonverbal and recovering in the hospital, his family says.

Rudy Farias, who disappeared in 2015 while walking his dogs, was miraculously found beaten and bruised Thursday by a Good Samaritan who called 911 according to his mother, Janie Santana.

“My son Rudy is receiving the care he needs to overcome his trauma, but at this time, he is nonverbal and not able to
communicate with us,” Santana said in a statement to The Post provided by the Texas Center for the Missing.

“We are asking for privacy during this difficult time but will
share more details as Rudy continues to heal,” she said, adding the family does not have any additional details about the case or where Farias has been for eight years.

Farias was 17 when he mysteriously disappeared near his family’s home.

The alarm was raised as soon as his dogs returned home without the teen.

Faris’ mother said he always wore a necklace that belonged to his brother, who was killed in a motorcycle crash in 2011.

When Farias was found unresponsive and covered in cuts and bruises outside a church, he was still wearing the same necklace, Santana told ABC 13.

Santana said Farias, who has barely spoken since he was found, keeps holding onto the sentimental chain.

She said he is only able to say a few words before moving into a fetal position.

In an update on Monday, Houston police also said there was an apparent sighting of Farias by his family in 2018 — though the tip never resulted in cops locating the missing man.

At the time of his disappearance, Farias suffered from depression, PTSD and anxiety, Texas EquuSearch said in 2015.

“It is possible he is disoriented as he has not been taking his medication,” the organization said at the time, as it launched a search for Farias.

Authorities did not initially believe foul play was involved when he went missing. Additional information about his disappearance was not immediately available.

Farias’ mother has said she believes her son, who was bleeding from his head when he was found next to a church, may have been abused.

The Texas Center for the Missing is continuing to investigate the case.
