It’s lights, camera, action for everyone this weekend – including Prince William.
Just a few hours ahead of the big coronation concert on Sunday, the official Kensington Palace social media accounts posted a cheeky clip of the Prince getting ready for the star-studded event.
The concert is scheduled to feature big-name performers including Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, and Andrea Bocelli.
In the new video, Prince William, 40, is seen smiling in a forest-green button-down shirt as it cut to clips showing preparations before the concert, like audio cords being plugged in and people scribbling on clipboards.
The 12-second reel then shows the Prince of Wales coming off of an elevator and taking the stage on the grounds of Windsor Castle, where the show is set to be held.
“Ok, Prince of Wales, it’s time for your rehearsal,” an official-sounding voice said in the background of the video.
The caption read, “Final preparations for this evening’s #coronation concert… 👀.”
On Saturday, King Charles was crowned as monarch in an historic ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
It marked the official transfer of power to him after the death of his mom, Queen Elizabeth II, this past September. She had reigned for 70 years when she died at the age of 96.
The event was attended by many members of the British royal family, including Prince Harry, who made it back to the United Kingdom for the first time since the release of his bombshell January memoir, “Spare.”
He was even joined by Queen Consort Camilla’s ex-husband, Andrew Parker Bowles.
Singer Katy Perry was also there, as she prepares for her big performance on stage today, which will air at 3 p.m. Eastern time on PBS in the United States, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Perry seemed to have quite the day, as she was the subject of many internet memes after she struggled to find her seat at the official ceremony.
But that wasn’t the only embarrassing moment that happened to Perry yesterday – the “California Gurls” singer almost slipped and fell in her purple skirt suit as she walked into Westminster Abbey on the rainy day.
After the ceremony, the star took to Twitter to jokingly reassure fans, “don’t worry guys i found my seat.”
The singer and the King go way back with each other – Perry met Charles, 74, at a 2019 event in Mumbai in 2019 before he appointed her as an ambassador for the British Asian Trust one year later.
In the weeks leading up to the coronation concert, the “American Idol” judge did not hesitate to share her excitement about the performance.
“I’m grateful I get to go,” Perry told Entertainment Tonight last month. “I met His Majesty to be a few years ago and he named me as one of the ambassadors to his organization, The British Asian Trust, which is an organization that helps fight to end child trafficking.”
“So I’m also an ambassador for UNICEF, and it really aligned with my values. That’s mostly why I’m going, to be an ambassador and to say, ‘Hey, this is me from the USA.’ No, but it’s so cool.”
She also noted that she was excited to be a part of history.
However, it looks like Prince Harry won’t be there to see Perry sing at the big concert.
He has already made his way back home to Montecito, California, for his son Archie’s fourth birthday party alongside wife Meghan Markle.
