An Ohio bus driver was hailed a hero for coolly speeding 15 center faculty college students off a burning faculty bus that went up in flames in mere minutes Thursday morning, officers stated.
The inferno began behind one of many rear tires, forcing pupils on the best way to Monticello Center College to leap out earlier than the bus grew to become totally engulfed in flames, Cleveland Heights-College Heights Metropolis College District and hearth officers stated.
The heroic bus driver didn’t even need recognition.
“I can’t express how relieved I am that no one was hurt, and I am incredibly grateful for the quick response from the driver,” Superintendent Liz Kirby stated in a message to the varsity neighborhood.
“I spoke with the motive force right now, they usually credited the annual bus evacuation drills that drivers do with college students with making ready them.
“(The driver has asked not to be identified, and we are respecting that request.) I also must credit the students for reacting so calmly and following the driver’s instructions to get to safety.”

The reason for the inferno wasn’t instantly recognized. The bus handed its annual state inspection earlier in February.
Different faculty buses have been re-inspected following the fireplace “out of an abundance of caution,” Kirby stated.
“Again, I am truly thankful for the safety of our students and thoughtful action from the adults who care for them,” the varsity chief stated.
