“New Girl” creator Elizabeth Meriwether is weighing in on whether or not she’d ever revisit the present with a reboot or a revival collection.
“I give the people what they want. There is a world, it is in a galaxy far, far away, in a multi-verse situation…” the author, 43, completely instructed The Submit.
“No, no,” she clarified whereas selling her new present “Dying For Sex” (now streaming on Hulu). “I love the show so much. I love the actors. Everybody who made the show is still in contact with each other. It was like a formative time in everyone’s life, I feel like. And so, it’s hard to go back.”
About whether or not she’d revisit the “New Girl” world and people characters, she added: “I don’t know; we’ll see.”
“New Girl” initially aired on Fox for seven seasons, from 2011 to 2018.
The sitcom starred Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris, and Jake Johnson as a gaggle of unlikely LA roommates, coping with relationship, work, and private points.
The present noticed a surge in recognition two years after it ended, throughout the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.
“I think it’s really popular right now because it’s a positive show,”Johnson, 46, instructed The Submit in 2020.
“At its core, there’s a real sweetness to it,” he continued. “And I think more than anything, people want kindness right now. It’s an easy show with relatable characters about people who like one another.”
In February, Greenfield, 45, and Deschanel, 45, additionally had a mini “New Girl” reunion onstage on the 2025 SAG Awards.
“I feel like the actors always throw me under the bus,” Meriwether joked to The Submit.
She defined, “They get asked [if there will be more ‘New Girl,’] and then they’re always like, ‘Well, it’s up to Liz.’ And I’m like, ‘You guys!’”
