NASCAR Xfinity driver Blaine Perkins’ flipped six times in the air during a frightening accident at the Ag-Pro 300 in Talledega on Saturday.
Parts of Perkins’ car were flying and the vehicle at one point landed upside down during the destructive wreck on lap 49, which became a multi-car collision.
Perkins was unable to finish the race but miraculously managed to walk away on his own power.
NASCAR says that Perkins was transported to a hospital following the accident.
The race itself halted for nearly 12 minutes after the red flag emerged.
Perkins, who drove the No. 02 car in the race, collided with fellow competitor Dexter Stacey and was lifted in the air as a result of the crash.
A car driven by Jade Buford also crashed into Perkins, which turned him sideways, leading to the several flips that took Perkins out of contention.
Stacey and Buford were also eliminated from finishing as the three ended 34th, 35th and 36th in the race.
A second red flag emerged in the race when Daniel Hemric’s car flipped upside down.
He was also able to emerge from the wreck.
Perkins, 23, first raced in the Xfinity series, NASCAR’s second-tier circuit, in 2021 and has one career top-10 finish.
