A Michigan couple who was being held “hostage” in a Mexican jail for almost a month have been launched on Thursday and are heading residence.
Navy veteran Paul Akeo and his spouse Christy have been launched after 30 days in custody for allegedly defrauding hospitality firm Palace Resorts.
“Paul and Christy Akeo are coming home. Mission accomplished,” Rep. Tom Barrett (R-Mi.) wrote in a put up to X.
The couple was arrested on March 4 after arriving in Cancun for a trip the place their passports have been flagged.
The arrests have been seen as a type of retaliation in opposition to the couple for difficult expenses made on their bank card by a resort throughout a keep in 2021.
“Make no mistake, what they’re doing is they are holding two Americans hostage because they want them to pay them money,” household lawyer John Manly informed CBS final month.
