The song was inspired by the 35th anniversary of “We Are The World” where Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and 63 artists sang together to call awareness to the needs of people in Africa. Longoria was inspired by this to create and produce an effort to bring an inspiring song to people with the mission of lifting each other up across the divisions of race, ideology and culture today in America.
“In our concerts we are bringing between 500 and 1000 kids together to sing with us in each concert and to share in the unity performance experience,” singer April Diamond explains, adding “The kids love to sing with us and to see first hand what its like to support unity like this!”
We Are One was launched on the lawn of the White House for the Day Of Prayer For Our Nation event with the National Day Of Prayer 2022 where Longoria led a choir from across America in singing the song. Then on September 29, 2022 it was released to all the streaming stores worldwide.
