An aged lady critically injured in a Washington Heights electrical hearth has died, with the FDNY saying that the blaze was sparked by no less than one area heater that was plugged into an extension wire.
The hearth broke out within the days and weeks following a number of complaints a few lack of warmth within the constructing on Bennett Ave. close to W. 184th St., together with a 311 grievance filed by a tenant on Jan. 4, three days earlier than the lethal blaze.

FDNY hearth marshals decided the hearth was sparked by quite a few area heaters that have been heating the condo, which have been plugged into extension cords together with different home equipment.
“Space heaters should never be used with extension cords and should always be plugged directly into a wall outlet,” the FDNY warned in a put up on X. “Large appliances can generate increased heat in an extension cord, causing it to overheat, melt or ignite.”
On Jan. 4, a tenant filed a 311 grievance for lack of warmth of their condo, data present. The grievance was closed the identical day as the hearth, when the Division of Housing Preservation and Improvement decided the warmth was again on.
