Vacationers in search of a tacky, carb-loaded snack on the Oakland Airport have a recent possibility: Forge Pizza, which opened a location this January in Terminal 2.
The brand new Forge is previous safety by Gate 26. That’s one terminal away from A16, the Bay Space pizza restaurant with Michelin cred that opened a department within the airport final summer time.
“We’re proud to incorporate a local Oakland business like Forge to help travelers truly feel like they are in the East Bay when they fly OAK (the Oakland Airport),” Craig Simon, the Port of Oakland’s director of aviation, stated in a press release.
Forge makes a speciality of sourdough pies baked in wood-fired ovens. For vacationers getting off a red-eye, the airport location has an early menu served till 10 a.m. that features a bacon-and-mushroom “breakfast pizza” (with a sunny-side egg on high, $20) and a veggie skillet with eggs, soy chorizo, gruyere and tater tots ($17.50).
The common pizzas vary from $18.50 for a margherita to $28 for a barbecue rooster and embody a Fats Boy with sausage and pickled peppers ($26) and a Cauliflower with leeks and pesto ($24). There’s a burger and a fried-chicken sandwich, each on brioche, and different objects like fried cheese curds with marinara ($12), crispy Brussels sprouts ($13) and an Indignant Shrimp Caesar salad ($26).
The unique Forge Pizza drew crowds for greater than a decade in Oakland’s Jack London Sq.. The restaurant shut down in December, however has plans to relaunch within the metropolis’s Rockridge neighborhood later in 2025. The Napa location of Forge Pizza stays in enterprise.
