Former All-American working again Eric Penick has died, Notre Dame introduced Saturday.
He was 71 years outdated.
His reason behind dying is unknown.
“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Eric Penick,” the Notre Dame Soccer X account posted on Saturday. “We send our condolences to his family and friends.”
Penick performed an enormous function within the Preventing Irish’s run to a nationwide championship in 1973, particularly his highlight-worthy 85-yard landing run in opposition to USC.
In that season, the working again ran for 586 yards and 7 touchdowns throughout 10 video games.
Years after retirement, Penick had his leg amputated after his battle with diabetes, together with issues from a number of different accidents he suffered earlier on in his life.
Penick, who was drafted within the thirteenth spherical by the Broncos in 1975, shared these experiences in his autobiography, “A Notre Dame Man: The Life, Lore, and Runs of Eric Penick.”
