“Dexter: Original Sin” is, because the title says, the origin story of blood splatter professional and serial killer Dexter Morgan.
Clyde Phillips, the showrunner on the primary sequence, is once more directing this 10-part sequence.
This iteration stars Irish actor Patrick Gibson as a younger Dexter, a school pupil and budding killer mentored by his dad (Christian Slater).
The primary sequence, which ran from 2006 to 2013, starred Michael C. Corridor as a Miami-based blood splatter professional who moonlighted as a killer offing individuals he felt deserved to die.
Phillips, 66, who spoke to The Put up on the present’s premiere on Wednesday evening in New York, lovingly calls the brand new iteration a “family show for a serial killer,” noting that “there’s a lot of father-son stuff going on here.”
Dexter additionally has a sister (performed by Molly Brown), and “they’re mourning the loss of their mother.”
“It’s a very humane show, and he’s a serial killer,” Phillips provides.
Nonetheless, the Emmy nominee informed The Put up that he doesn’t have a keenness for serial killers.
“I hate serial killers,” he explains. “However I like this serial killer as a result of he kills for good and he kills individuals who have fallen by way of the cracks and arguably should die. Every time he takes that particular person out he’s stopping them from killing different individuals, thereby saving lots of and possibly 1000’s of lives.
“That person is no longer in business because Dexter took them out of business.”
Phillips is happy for followers to see the brand new present as a result of it’s an “opportunity for the audience to see the formation.”
He notes that once we first met Dexter, “he was 35 years old, he was fully formed, he was living with a woman and now we meet him as a college student who has never kissed a girl and doesn’t know how to hug his own sister, so it’s a lot about family.”
Followers will even be joyful to know that Corridor is again, albeit not on display, as he narrates the 10-episode sequence.
“He’s an executive producer of the show,” Phillips shares. “He’s my business partner, my dear friend and when his voice comes up the audience will lean in and they’re going to stay leaning forward through the whole series.”
