Davante Adams was not notably stunned that Joe Douglas received despatched packing by the Jets.
The Jets wideout appeared on FanDuel TV’s “Up & Adams” and was requested about his response to the final supervisor getting sacked.
“It’s surprising but it’s not, just because you know the way this game goes,” Adams stated.
“When games aren’t being won and things don’t look the way they were intended to look, something’s gotta change.”
Douglas had held the job since 2019 and the Jets have been 30-64 throughout his tenure.
Adams was acquired by the Jets on Oct. 15, and the wheels have fallen off the wagon because the staff sits at 3-8 and quarterback Aaron Rodgers appears like a shell of his former nice self.
On his “Up & Adams” look, Adams continued to clarify that administration turnover was the best way of the world amid underperformance within the NFL.
“That was something similar [with Robert Saleh] — obviously I wasn’t technically here yet for the head coaching change, but going through that in Vegas — when things aren’t working typically you move some things around,” Adams stated.
“You’ve gotta adjust some furniture. I kind of anticipated it coming just based on the scope of the season and how we’ve been looking as a team. They’ve got to place the blame or put accountability on someone, and oftentimes it winds up on the coach or the management. That’s just kind of how the cookie crumbles. It’s not for me to say whether it’s the right thing to do or not. I’m just getting here and I’m still hearing about the way things work in this building and the way things have been in in this building. So I’m not here to talk about whether it was supposed to happen — that’s just typically how it goes.”
Nonetheless, Adams doesn’t remorse making the voyage to the Jets.
“No, I don’t live my life like that,” Adams stated, “We’re talking about playing with Aaron Rodgers here… this isn’t like taking some crazy gamble with some rookie that’s unproven.”
