Britney Spears has broken her silence following her husband Sam Asghari’s divorce filing one year into their marriage, saying she “couldn’t take the pain anymore.”
Taking to Instagram Friday night, the “Toxic” hitmaker, 41, said that while their divorce is “nobody’s business,” she admitted to being “a little shocked” at the turn of events.
“As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together … 6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked,” the pop star wrote alongside a video of herself dancing.
“I’m not here to explain why because it’s honestly nobody’s business !!! But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!!” she continued. “In some sort of telepathic way I have been receiving so many messages that melt my heart from friends and I thank you !!!”
Spears said she’s “been playing it strong for way too long,” adding that her Instagram shows a life that is “far from reality.”
“I would love to show my emotions and tears on how I really feel but (for) some reason I’ve always had to hide my weaknesses,” she said, adding that if she “wasn’t my dad’s strong soldier, I would be sent away to places to get fixed by doctors.”
“But that’s when I needed family the most !!! You’re supposed to be loved unconditionally … not under conditions !!!!”
Spears concluded her post writing how she will be “as strong as I can and do my best !!! And I’m actually doing pretty damn good !!! Anyways have a good day and don’t forget to smile !!!”
The “Gimme More” hitmaker’s post comes just one day after Asghari broke his silence on the split.
“After 6 years of love and commitment to each other my wife and I have decided to end our journey together,” the actor wrote on Instagram Thursday.
“We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always,” he continued, adding “s–t happens.”
Despite the seemingly civil tone, the model-turned-actor’s filing shows he is asking that Spears be required to pay spousal support and cover his legal fees and court costs, but also asked for “separate assets” and “various items.”
According to Asghari’s filing obtained by The Post, among those could include Spears’ dog, a Doberman named Porsha, which he had gifted her in 2021, as well as an Australian Shepherd named Sawyer the pair adopted in February.
Aside from the various items he’s requesting from the court, Asghari won’t be walking away with a penny of Spears’ hard-earned fortune thanks to an airtight prenup the pair had in place before saying their “I do’s.”
Spears and Asghari first laid eyes on each other on the set of her music video “Slumber Party” in Oct. 2016.
The pair soon began dating but kept their romance out of the public eye due to Spears being in a conservatorship at the time.
Asghari popped the all-important question in Sept. 2021 — just two months before the singer’s conservatorship was officially terminated by a judge.
Less than a year later, the couple tied the knot in a private ceremony at her Thousand Oaks, Calif., mansion.
But the day wasn’t without its drama, as Spears’ ex-husband crashed the party by live-streaming himself breaking into her home before being pinned down by security.
Jason Alexander, who was married to the pop icon for a total of 55 hours in 2004, was later hit with a restraining order and told to stay away from the singer.
Spears later wed Kevin Federline, with whom she shares sons Sean Preston, 17, and Jayden James, 16, before divorcing the former dancer in 2007.
