PITTSBURGH — Adam Ottavino’s reunion with the Yankees was a brief one.
The Yankees designated the veteran reliever for task on Friday to make room for Devin Williams getting back from the paternity record forward of their collection in opposition to the Pirates.
Ottavino had signed with the Yankees on Tuesday (when Williams landed on the paternity record) and made two scoreless appearances spanning 1 ⅓ innings of their collection in opposition to the Diamondbacks. He walked two and struck out two.
The 39-year-old now heads again into limbo, the place he had been earlier than Tuesday after spending spring coaching on a minor league take care of the Purple Sox and never making the group.

Ottavino, who pitched for the Yankees in 2019 and 2020, spent the final three seasons within the Mets’ bullpen, pitching to a 3.14 ERA.
