EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin introduced Wednesday that he’s discovered $20 billion in taxpayer cash that the Biden administration “parked” at a monetary establishment — in an obvious effort to stop the Trump administration from reducing grants to “far-left activist groups.”
Zeldin, 45, defined in a video posted on X that the Biden administration’s obfuscation was unprecedented and he demanded the unnamed monetary establishment to right away return the funds to the EPA.
“Shockingly, roughly 20 billion of your tax dollars were parked at an outside financial institution by the Biden EPA,” Zeldin mentioned. “This scheme was the first of its kind in EPA history, and it was purposefully designed to obligate all of the money in a rush job with reduced oversight.”
The $20 billion seems to be cash that was appropriated to the EPA below the Inflation Discount Act, which boosted authorities spending on environmental tasks.
The EPA administrator and former New York Republican congressman mentioned the large pot of cash was “awarded to just eight entities that were then responsible for doling out” the funds to non-governmental organizations “at their discretion.”
One of many eight entities, Local weather United Fund, acquired slightly below $7 billion from the Biden EPA to dole out, in keeping with Zeldin.
Local weather United Fund describes itself as a “national coalition of experienced non-profit financial institutions investing in solutions that tackle our nation’s toughest economic and environmental challenges.”
The group says it supplies “affordable, accessible financing for clean energy projects in communities that are often overlooked by traditional investing.”
Zeldin expressed concern with how Local weather United and the seven different entities will resolve to allocate the funds and over whether or not any former Biden administration EPA staffers will profit from the “rush job.”
“Let me make one thing abundantly clear: At this point, there is zero reason to suspect any wrongdoing by the bank,” Zeldin mentioned, earlier than making it identified that he needs the cash again.
“The financial agent agreement with the bank needs to be instantly terminated, and the bank must immediately return all of the gold bars that the Biden administration tossed off the Titanic,” he argued, referring to stunning post-election video which confirmed Biden administration EPA official telling an undercover Challenge Veritas reporter that the company was “tossing gold bars off the Titanic” earlier than President Trump assumed workplace.
“EPA needs to re-assume responsibility for all of these funds,” Zeldin continued.
The EPA administrator famous that he plans to refer the matter to the company’s workplace of the inspector basic and “will work with the Justice Department as well.”
“The days of irresponsibly shoveling boatloads of cash to far-left activist groups in the name of environmental justice and climate equity are over,” Zeldin declared. “The American public deserves a more transparent and accountable government than what transpired these past four years.”
