LINN COUNTY, Kan. – A rural western Kansas neighborhood is mourning two kids who died after being trapped below the ice at an area lake.
The tragedy unfolded in Linn County late Monday night after 911 operators obtained a report of the lacking children from Lake Chaparral, a personal gated neighborhood.
Upon arrival, deputies shortly realized the severity of the state of affairs and requested help from the Linn County Fireplace Division.
“Searchers found evidence leading them to believe the two juveniles had been around the lake,” the Linn County Sheriff’s Workplace stated.
Aerial drone footage confirmed authorities’ worst fears.
The children had been situated beneath the ice.
The Overland Park Fireplace Dive Crew was known as in to get well the our bodies.
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to family and friends that have been affected by this tragedy,” the sheriff’s workplace stated.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
“Our schools are dealing with a tragic loss today,” directors with the native college district, Jayhawk USD 346, stated to oldsters Tuesday morning. “Please know that our staff is paying special attention to the wellbeing of our students and that we are offering special supports provided by our community. We will continue to respect the families most impacted by this event.”
